Mosaic Damascus Theory, Design & Construction w/ Salem Straub !

Skill Level:  Intermediate (A "Intermediate" student has forging experience, is familiar and comfortable with operation/use of power hammers and forging presses)

Limited Spaces Available (Max of 8 students)

In this 4 Day workshop, Salem Straub will instruct students on the following:

Day 1:  

• Mosaic Damscus Theory (1/2 day)
• Billet Design
• Organize/Pattern Steel and tack weld (2 billets per student)
• Each student will start with roughly 20 pounds of steel

Day 2 & 3:

• Forge welding and pattern development

Day 4:

• Tiling

Notes:

• The goals noted above must be acheived each day.  
• Students finishing early may stay to assist others or may leave early.  
• Students will not be permitted to work ahead of the class plan.
• No Knives will be made during this class, unless student has completed their billets early on Day 4

This is an unbelievable opportunity to learn directly from the best in the business when it comes to Mosaic Damascus!  Mosaic Theory, Construction, Materials, Pattern Design, and Tiling will be covered.  To attend this class, students must be familiar & comfortable in the use of power hammers and forging presses, as well as having forging experience.  This class is for the serious, Intermediate Bladesmith, but can be enjoyed by Master Smiths as well.  All steps of the process will be covered, with tips and info resources.  Students must bring their own PPE (personal protection equipment, including Safety Glasses, Welding Gloves, Hearing Protection, and Respirator).

PreRequisites:  Students should possess Intermediate Level forging experience, be familiar and comfortable with operation/use of power hammers and forging presses to be successful in this class.
